Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Pregnancy
If you decide to continue with your pregnancy your midwife will usually suggest that you are tested for any Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) as some can harm you and your baby if left untreated. If you are worried you have an STI you can also go along to a sexual health clinic for a check-up. This is a free service and the staff are friendly and won’t judge you. You can take someone along with you for support and you don’t always need an appointment although walk-in clinics can get very busy so it is best to arrive early if you can.
