preparing for my baby
Continuing with your pregnancy
The remaining sections of this website cover the help and services that you can
receive if you decide to carry on with your pregnancy.
It is important that you are referred to a midwife as early in
your pregnancy as possible. This will ensure that any problems
are picked up early and treated. In some cases this can prevent
the development of a whole range of problems later on for both
you (such as diabetes and high blood pressure associated with
pregnancy, and postnatal depression) and your baby, such as asthma
and breathing problems, premature birth, feeding problems, sleeping
problems and allergies.
During pregnancy, you may be entitled to certain benefits including
income support, free NHS prescriptions and dental treatment. For
more information, contact your local benefits agency or speak to
a Connexions PA on 020 8514 5441.
