Care for You When You Are Pregnant
During your pregnancy, you will be looked after by a midwife, your
local doctor (GP) or a hospital doctor (called an obstetrician).
Sometimes all three will be involved in caring for you and your
baby. Midwives are experts in normal pregnancy and birth. They care
for mums and babies before, during and up to 28 days after the birth
of a baby.
At King George Hospital in Redbridge and Queens Hospital in Romford,
there are Teenage Pregnancy Midwives to offer support specifically to pregnant
teenagers who are under 18. The GP will send a letter to the hospital and then the midwife will contact you.
If at this time you are 17 or under and having your baby at King George or Queens Hospital
you will get an appointment to visit a Teenage Pregnancy Midwife.
If not you will be seen by the midwife from your GP surgery.
If you are under 18 and having your baby at King George or Queens Hospital
you can make a referral to the Teenage Pregnancy Midwifery Team on
020 8970 8204 or call the midwives directly on 07974 971 853 / 0797 4971 848.
