preparing for my baby
Adoption
If you decide against a termination or it is not possible, or you
decide you are not ready for parenthood you can have your baby adopted.
You can make this decision at any time during your pregnancy or
after the baby is born.
Having your baby adopted is a huge decision and it is important
that you talk through your decision with a counsellor before you
finally decide what is best for you and your baby. You may want
to talk this through with your own parents.
You can also ask to see a social worker when you visit the hospital
for your antenatal appointment or you can contact Social Services
directly. The social worker will explain about adoption and make
sure that you have all the information that you need to make this
important decision.
If you are certain that adoption is what you want the social worker
will arrange for foster parents to look after your baby from the
time you make that decision until the baby moves in with adoptive
parents. If you want more information about adoption, you can arrange
to see a hospital social worker or you can contact: Social Services
